Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I get started with WonderChat AI?
Click "Get API Key" for "Google" in the AI Provider API Key panel (when app first opens or in Settings). Create a Gemini API Key from the popped up page. Copy, paste, and save key back in the app. You're now ready to create and work on WonderChat AI projects.
Which model do you recommend for WonderChat?
Gemini Flash/Pro (latest version).
Why can't I connect to GitHub?
If you previously connected and installed the WonderChat GitHub App, you need to uninstall it before reauthenticating.
Can I push local projects to GitHub?
Yes, swipe left on the project item will show the GitHub option.
How do I add custom providers?
In the settings view, use 'Add custom provider'. The provider must have an OpenAI-compatibility API endpoint. The Host URL is the full domain name to the provider, and the Base Path is the base endpoint prefix before resources like /chat/completions. Add the default model to use and optionally add any other models from the provider. Finally, provide your API key for the provider.
How do I enable more models for existing providers?
You can create a custom AI provider, use an existing name, filling in the provider's OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and specify any model available from the provider.
Why doesn't some models work with WonderChat projects?
Models must support tool calling if you want full-featured WonderChat projects. You can still use non-tool calling models, but they are limited to non-agentic workflows.
